20 Years of Razem Utah!
This October 2022 marks the 20th anniversary of the Razem Utah organization! From the onset of this organization, the goal has been to bring together any and all people with Polish ties.
Originally, the dream of the organization was jumpstarted by the 2002 Utah Winter Olympics. The many activities associated with the Olympics brought to light how many Poles reside in Utah and are interested in meeting together.
The organization was founded on 4 main objectives: 1) a Polish school, 2) a Polish library, 3) charitable actions, and 4) promoting Polish culture. These goals were established by the original founders and writers of the bylaws: (Lucjan Laniewski, Jędrzej Borowczyk, Marek Jagiełło, Józef Ottowicz, Zygmunt Sochman, Krzysztof Kubica). The first elected board consisted of Lucjan Laniewski, Marek Matyjasik, Ania Kubica, Józef Ottowicz, Bogusław Sarnecki, Zygmunt Sochman i Bogdan Woźniak. Since then, the organization has been served by 11 presidents and boards, all volunteers with ties to the Polish community.
We are excited to carry on the traditions of our heritage. Looking through the archives of the organization, we have seen that many exciting events have taken place throughout the years. These have included picnics at parks and lakes, hikes, galas, kids activities ((Mikołajki, Children's Day, etc), casual soccer games, ski tournaments, and the list goes on.
We welcome everyone to participate in our organization, from native-born Poles and the spouses to adults and children just learning Polish and 2nd, 3rd, 4th generation Poles who are interested in their heritage.
Through the organization’s objectives, we hope to maintain a strong cultural tie back to our Polish roots. We encourage anyone with interest in this culture to join us in sharing our heritage, language, and food of the country we love!
